[Reporter Haeyoung Lee] A man with look and voice reminding of a Disney
prince says his goal for delivering the message of dream and hope. Minue Noh
colors the photo shooting set quietly like an alive painting.
After his debut as a drummer for TraxX, he left a strong impression with
remarkable visual and stage name, ‘Rose’. Then, he showed impressive acting in
various dramas and he settled as an actor, Minue Noh.
After his 4 years of break including his military service, Minue Noh comes
back as a chilling murderer character with a multiple personality disorder. Showing
a perfect balance as a singer and actor, Minue Noh is slowly and straightly
walking on his way. In this interview, Minue Noh shared his goal for becoming
an icon for dream and hope.
Q. Feelings for Photo
Shooting
“I enjoyed the shooting and
I’m sure the photos will be great”
Q. Please Share Your Recent
Updates
“I just finished shooting
for the drama and I’m taking naps these days. But I can’t take a rest for too
long because I will be busy for the rest of 2019 for preparing my album”
Q. You Recently Left A
Strong Impression as Murderer and Doctor Chul Jang in ‘Partners for Justice
Season 2”. What Made You Choose Partners for Justice for Your First Drama After
Completing Military Service?
“I wanted to show aspects
different from my precious images. Actually, I got offers for a romantic comedy
genre and ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’ after completing my military service
and I thought deeply about them. Actually, Chul Jang has 3 personalities in the
drama. So, I felt a lot of burden in acting such a powerful character”
“When I got offers, I asked for advice on choosing between them and a lot of people
suggested me on challenging for a new character. I also kept thinking about
choosing the drama and about my future career as an actor. During my military
service, I reflected on my 20s and looked back on my weakness and things I
missed. Then, I decided that acting for a murder and psychopath would broaden
my acting spectrum. This made me to challenge on Chul Jang in Partners for
Justice Season 2”
Q. What Efforts Did You Make
for Acting As A Murderer Character?
“Our director recommended me
on watching as much as domestic and overseas pieces about psychopath and
murderer. I watched 3~4 pieces about psychopath and murderer before shooting
the drama. Later, I became insensitive to violent scenes or blood. I acted Chul
Jang after studying those pieces and the director liked my acting more than I
thought. So, I could enjoy the pleasant mood while shooting Partners for
Justice Season 2”
Q. How Was It Like to Act
with Jaeyoung Jeong and Mansuk Oh?
“Jaeyoung Jeong is very
gentle and quiet and he helped me a lot. Actually, he loves doing joke or
making others laugh. When shooting at National Forensic Service, actors often
went panic because of excessive lines, urgent atmosphere, and tense scenes with
numerous production staff around. As a result, our director sometimes got
sensitive and people made a lot of mistakes. In such time, Jeong comforted
others and I really thank Jeong for his kindness”
“I shot a lot of later
scenes with Mansuk Oh and there were numerous scenes where I had to hang him or
punch him.
I could act more comfortably as he told me to be bolder even though the
punching or hanging must have been painful. Oh helped me a lot for me to act
more boldly”
Q. Chul Jang’s Long Hair Was The Point in Acting Both Doctor and Murderer,
The Long Hair Style Was The Point. Was It Your Opinion?
“I spend three years in the
military and I had to keep my hair short during those years. So, I decided to
grow my hair and I kept growing my hair after finishing my military service
just in case for traditional historical Korean drama or other types of dramas.
Then, I met the director for the first time and I let down my hair in black
clothing. As soon as the director saw me, he said ‘I want you to appear in the
drama just like that. Could you come to the script reading in that hair style?’”
“Our director didn’t
instruct about the character’s hair style. Although my hair got tangled and untidy
during the drama, Chul Jang is not a neat and delicate character. So, my long
hair style could be accepted easily”
Q. Please Talk About
Memorable Episode in Acting for Doctor and Murderer
“Chul Jang doesn’t have much
scenes with other actors. Instead, Chul Jang generally moves alone in most of
the scenes. So, I got used to shooting the scene alone and I felt awkward as if
shooting another drama when shooting with other actors (Laugh)”
Q. While Shooting Drama, You
Appeared in MBC ‘King of Masked Singer’ and Showed Your Singing Skill. Also,
Choosing ‘FAKE LOVE’ by BTS Was Surprising.
“Yes (Laugh). On the day
before shooting ‘King of Masked Singer’, I got sore throat for acting Chul Jang’s
dual personality. It was not easy to sing on a stage with such sore throat.
Actually, I feel sad about the sore throat. I could have shown better stage in
my normal condition”
“I chose ‘FAKE LOVE’ by BTS
because it’s my favorite BTS song and because I always thought that the song
has a rock feeling. So, I wanted to arrange the song with more rock feeling for
my fans. Then, I got a chance to sing at ‘King of Masked Singer’ and I chose
this song. Actually, I had just one day to arrange the song before the
performance”
Q. In ‘King of Masked Singer’,
You Showed Your Goal for Album Activity in Korea This Year. What Kind of Music
World Do You Want to Show to Public?
“I never released a regular
full-length album. I first debuted as a drummer and I wanted to continue the
band music. However, I couldn’t find the perfect voice. After searching for the
suitable vocals, I decided to sing the song myself. I believe an artist needs
to have a core to deliver message and color to the public. I found what I am
good at and what message I want to deliver to the public just one year ago.
Before that, I attempted on various genres and I couldn’t release my first
regular album before I was 100% satisfied with my song”
“About a year ago, I organized the songs I want to continue and I already made
most of the songs. I was thinking about the best timing for releasing the album
and I had to choose between releasing the album and appearing in drama after
finishing my military service. Then, I joined ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’.
As a shot the drama, I could organize my plans and thoughts for my album more
clearly. Please wait for the songs I’ll be releasing this year”
“I personally don’t like
songs about love or breaking up. Since I’m not a bright person, I try not to
immerse deeply in sad and depressing emotions. I love Disney and I want to be
an artist who delivers the message of dream and hope like Disney. When writing
lyrics, I often write the things that I want to hear from others and things I
want to deliver to my fans. So, I’m planning to show my songs with such
messages soon”
Q. It’s Remarkable How You
Keep Balance Between Acting and Music
“I have a different ON-OFF
switch for myself a singer and actor. I try to show my various aspects as a
singer and actor by turning the switch on and off. However, I couldn’t turn the
switch quickly during my 20s. For example, I wear totally different make-up
when I’m on stage or when I’m acting. Then, I sometimes went to the shooting
site without removing the thick make-up as a singer without being aware. I also
exaggerated like a singer on a stage while I was acting. During my military
service and 4 years of break, I could reflect on myself as both singer and
actor”
“Although it’s not easy to
keep the balance between singer and actor activity, there were several cases
where my composing and songwriting brought me unexpected fortune. Our director
suggested me on making an ending song for ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’ and I
could make a song quickly because I have been making songs personally. I have
emotions and feelings coming from acting and I wrote lyrics quickly by melting
such emotions and feelings in the lyrics. This is when I feel great for
focusing on both singing and acting together”
Q. What’s Your Memorable
Drama?
“I appeared in KBS drama
special ‘ROCK’ that covered the life of Taewon Kim from Boo Hwal in 4 episodes.
While I was shooting this drama, I could have indirect experience on
difficulties that Taewon Kim had to go through in his life. I immersed into the
drama so intensively and I actually didn’t have to act for the crying scene.
The tears came out naturally. ‘ROCK’ is one of the most memorable dramas to me
and I really enjoyed shooting that drama. I also got to know Taewon Kim during
the drama and he is now like my father. Whenever I feel lonely or get stuffed
with thoughts, I meet him. He writes lyrics on notes and I just sit in front of
him without saying anything. Such quiet time comforts me. We built up
relationship with his continuous supports and helps”
Q. Is There Any Character or
Genre You Want to Try?
“These days, a lot of
fantasy movies are released in Korea and I want to appear in well-made fantasy
work. I also want to try melodrama”
Q. Who’s The Most Impressive
Actor Among Actors You Met?
“I’d say Nosusanna I
recently met in ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’ is impressive. Although she was
not in love with me, there was a scene where she had some kind of feeling
toward me in the drama and I was impressed by her acting. She is in the same
sage as me and her eyes were swollen throughout the scene where her daughter
was kidnapped. She said she kept shedding tears before coming to the shooting
site to maintain her feelings. Looking at her devotion toward acting, I
wondered whether I could act like her”
Q. Who is Your Role Model?
“When I get questions about
my favorite actors, I always answer Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, and Jared Leto.
These people have rock feeling and Jared Leto is even famous as a member of
rock band that had a world tour. I wish I could become an actor and rock singer
in Korea. That’s why I respect and admire these actors”
“When Keanu Reeves shot the
film ‘Matrix’, he was about 36. Whenever I think of my 4 years of break and
relatively slow career speed, I keep thinking about those actors to remind
myself that age isn’t that important”
Q. Is There Any Actor You Want to Work With?
“I want to work with Gangho
Song. One of my favorite films of him is ‘The Show Must Go On’. His acting
always has a wit. Even serious films have sense of humor and laugh. I love such
code and his own style. If I get a chance to act with him, I’d love to work
with him”
Q. Recently, Your Younger
Brother ‘I’ll’ Won JTBC ‘Super Band’. Have You Given Any Advice As His Brother?
“I actually worked as an
album producer for I’ll and we are working together on making colors for his
music world. We often talk about the concept, his voice for song, and what he
needs to work on. I also helped him while he was appearing in ‘Super Band’. I
feel thankful and proud of I’ll for listening to my advices carefully”
“Actually, I’m just a guide
for I’ll. The four members make ensemble and harmony with huge synergy effect.
I’m so proud of those four kind and good members for winning ‘Super Band’. I
always tell them to keep up the good work”
Q. I Heard Your Mother Was
An Enka Singer.
“When I hear the songs she
sang in Japan, her voice is very similar to our brothers’ voice. Her voice is truly
beautiful and she gave us such gift to us. My mother was very strict to me and
she told me to take care of I’ll as she did to me. So, I was the one who took care
of I’ll”
Q. Public Started to Learn
About You as TraxX Member. Please Share Your Memory About TraxX
“I learned a lot during
TraxX activity. I was in my 10s and I didn’t know what I was good and what I
was bad at. When a company suggests a path that we weren’t good at, we were
supposed to come up with answers for our strength and weakness. I was sad that
we couldn’t come up with answers for that. As I thought I need to study much
more, I left the team and kept on making various genres of music and studying
harmonics. Then, I became able to share opinion about the font for album cover
and make concepts together. So, I can express strength and weakness clearly”
Q. Have You Had A Slump Before?
“I actually don’t miss my
past when I was in 10s or 20s. This is the happiest and most pleasant time for
me. I think regretting the past is the waste of time. We all go through times
of difficulty and we wonder not knowing what to do. My 4 years of break
including my military service was the turning point for having deep thoughts. I
carefully thought about my future, career, and my color. I sometimes thought
that I’m not a suitable person for an entertainer. Then, such time of deep
thoughts and difficulties made me to become myself now. I guess I can call that
time a slump”
“As I deeply thought about myself, my attitude for work changed. I thought of
everything as making a memory for my life and this made me to feel comfortable
and enjoy every day. Now, I try to enjoy the day doing things I love instead of
getting stress for things I cannot solve. In my 20s, I focused on my career as
entertainer, actor, singer, and artist. Now, I myself stand in the center. I do
my best while working and I return to myself as soon as I am off from work.
This made me feel more comfortable”
Q. Please Talk About Helpful
Co-Workers
“As I mentioned before,
Taewon Kim helps me a lot and Seungryong Ryu from ‘Roaring Currents’ also gives
me advices. I think I get along with people who are older than me. Others say
that I have an old soul and that’s why I get along with people who are older
than me”
