[Reporter Haeyoung Lee] After debuting as a drummer for the rock band, ‘TraxX’, MINUE left a strong impression as a powerful visual and stage name ‘Rose’. Then, MINUE started showing impressive acting and settled as an actor MINUE. bnt had a chance to meet MINUE keeping perfect balance as an actor and singer.

The photos were taken with 3 concepts. He showed a playful mood with a lime-color suit while expressing delicate sexy feelings in beige-tone shirt and pants. In the photo shoot for a shirt with detailed laces and pants, he appeared with wet hair style and expressed his own mysterious feeling by showing his sexiness.

After the photo shoot, MINUE down for an interview. He just finished his MBC drama ‘Partners for Justice Season 2”. When he was asked about the reason for acting as a character who is a murderer and psychopath, he said “After finishing my military service, I had to choose between melodrama and ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’. I asked others for advice and I decided to show new aspects. I also thought that acting as a psychopath and multiple personality character would be helpful in my later acting career”.

He successfully expressed a totally different character in ‘Partners for Justice’ and he commented about the director’s advice for acting as a murderer. “Our director told me to watch domestic and overseas pieces about psychopath and murderer as much as I could. So, I studied the character by watching 3~4 pieces a day”.

In ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’, MINUE had a chance to act with other experienced actors such as Jaeyoung Jeong and Mansuk Oh. He said “Jaeyoung Jeong is a very gentle and quiet man but he is also interested in making others laugh. I could act more easily as he encouraged me for my mistakes”. MINUE also expressed his thankful heart to Mansuk Oh. “In the latter part of the drama, there were violent scenes where I had to punch or hang Mansuk Oh. I could act more comfortably as he told me to be bolder even though the punching or hanging must have been painful”.

Chul Jang who is both a doctor and murderer could stand out more with MINUE’s long black hair. When MINUE was asked about whether it was his choice, he explained “I had to keep my hair short during my military service. So, I really wanted to grow my hair after finishing the service. I had a meeting with the director while I was growing my hair and he liked my style at that time. So, I could start shooting without much change on my hair”.

While MINUE was showing his impressive acting skills in ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’, he also appeared in MBC ‘King of Masked Singers’ and showed himself as a singer. He sang ‘Fake Love’ by BTS. When he was asked about the reason for choosing ‘Fake Love’, he delivered that “My favorite BTS song is ‘Fake Love’. I wanted to arrange this song because I believed this song has a rock feeling”.

MINUE also commented that he wanted to approach to public with his album after ‘Partners for Justice Season 2’. He said “I don’t like songs about love or breaking up. Instead, I want to sing a song I want to hear and song with message of dream and hope I want to deliver to the public”.

As he said he doesn’t want to sing a song about love and breaking up, bnt asked him about his ideal type. Then, MINUE said “I like a faithful person who enjoy eating. I like cooking and I usually make a lot of food. I want someone who can enjoy my food”.

MINUE is currently keeping a balance as a singer and actor. He expressed working in two fields as ‘ON-OFF Switch’. He delivered that “When I’m working as a singer or actor, I have different feeling like having ON-OFF switch in my body. In my 20s, I went through trials and errors as it was difficult to turn the switch on and off. For example, I had an attitude as a singer even when I was acting”.

When MINUE was asked about an actor he wants to work with, he answered he wants to act with Gangho Song. He said “Song’s acting always has humor and wit. Whenever I see his acting, I always get excited on how he will be expressing the scene with humor. I really love the humor and wit in his acting and I want to act with him someday”. Also, when he was asked about the reliable entertainer in his entertainment activities, MINUE answered Taewon Kim from ‘Boo Hwal’ is a great help. He said “I got to know Taewon Kim as I participated in the piece about his life story. He is like my father. Whenever I feel tired and lonely, I find comforts just by meeting him sitting without talking”.

Recently, MINUE’s younger brother I’ll won JTBC ‘Super Band’ and the brothers made headline. MINUE showed his love for his brother throughout the interview. He said “I’m so proud of I’ll and his members for trying their best and winning the show. They are creating their own music world and I always tell I’ll to be modest and continue the hard work”.

MINUE is a member of music family. His younger brother is I’ll and his mother was also an enka singer in the past. He explained “I heard mother’s singing voice during her activity in Japan and her tone is similar to our tone. I think we resemble mother’s beautiful voice”.

While MINUE is currently active as an actor and singer, he left a strong impression after debuting as a drummer for the rock band TraxX. He said “I could learn a lot from TraxX activities. At that time, we were all young and we had a hard time because we couldn’t express or explain our strength and weakness well. So, I decided to leave the team and I tried to find my own color by studying more”.

His 4 years of break with military service was a time to organize his thoughts and re-establish his own values. He commented about his positive attitude during his military service. “When I was in the military, I kept thinking about my future path and my own color. It was like a turning point. Although I deeply thought about whether I should continue my career as an entertainer, I decided to enjoy my career. I learned that getting stress from difficult matters won’t solve problems. I could enjoy my everyday life as I thought it was like making a memory for my life”.

MINUE also expressed the conclusion he got from his thoughts. He said “While I focused on my aspect as singer, actor, and entertainer during my 20s, now I have myself in the center. When I’m working, I try my best to be a good actor and singer. Then, when I go home, I just become myself”.

MINUE also delivered that he wants others to think about him as a person who spreads dream and hope. As a singer and actor spreading dream and hope, MINUE will be delivering the hopeful message through his dramas, films, and music.
