[Herald POP= Reporter Yunhae Cheon] Hoppipolla showed a trilling performance as the first winner of ‘Super Band’.

In SBS Power FM ‘Hwajeong’s Power Time’ aired on June 26, Hoppipolla from JTBC ‘Super Band’ appeared as a guest.

DJ Choi introduced Hoppipolla and described them as ‘Guys with charisma that I cannot define’. Hoppipolla members said that it’s their first time in a live radio show. I’ll said “It’s our first time in a live radio show after winning ‘Super Band’. Actually, I am getting more nervous than the final stage”.

DJ Choi asked Hoppipolla ‘Did you expect you would be winning Super Band?’. Then, Hyunsang Ha answered “Absolutely not” while Jinho Hong laughed and said “We actually knew as soon as we got on the stage”.

Hoppipolla members also talked about the reasons for deciding to participate in ‘Super Band’. First, I’ll said “I wasn’t getting good results from my musical activities and I was thinking about giving up music. Then, I saw the notice on ‘Super Band’ and thought of it as my last chance. I am so glad that I won the show as I was losing confidence in myself as a musician”. Jinho Hong commented “I have been doing classic music and I decided to participate in ‘Super Band’ to make more people know about classic music”.

Also, Youngso Lee said “I have been playing various instruments. I played classic piano for a long time and changed to guitar. I have been doing music alone for a long time. So, I had been dreaming about performing with other musicians. Then a read a notice saying ‘Musical talents gather’. I was also curious about what kind of music I’ll be doing in the show”. Hyunsang added that “I have been composing songs instead of doing performance. Since I was interested in band music, I participated in the show for band performances. I didn’t expect I would win the show”.   

Members also commented about their role in the group. I’ll said “I encourage others members in Hoppipolla” and Jinho Hong continued “I am a mediator in Hoppipolla”. Also, Youngso Kim said “My role is similar to I’ll. When the members are down or depressed during the meeting, I encourage other members”. Then, Hyunsang Ha said “I keep the balance and I’m the one who stops Youngso when he goes wild”. The different roles of members showed their unique chemistry. 

Choi also asked Hoppipolla members whether they actually feel the popularity after the show. I’ll answered “I once went to Gwangjang Market and the restaurant owners recognized me. So, I try to visit Gwangjang Market often. I also enjoy when people recognize me”. Then, Hyunsang Ha said “A taxi driver told me that he knows my face” and Youngso Kim commented “I went to a pizza restaurant and the owner gave me a dipping sauce for free. That moment, I realized Hoppipolla really got famous”.

Hoppipolla members also commented that they haven’t received the prize money for ‘Super Band’. For the car they received as an additional prize, Hoppipolla members said “Each member will be taking one wheel” and laughed.
